Walking the Streets in the Rain (or I'm walking the Streets in the Rain, as it stands the official Eurovision web site) was the debut entry for Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 in Naples performed by Butch Moore.

The song is a ballad, with Moore singing about walking away from his former lover after she has ended their relationship. As he recounts his emotions at the event, he makes the comment that "nobody knows I am crying/'Cause I'm walking the streets in the rain".

On this first participation, the Irish broadcaster did not have Moore accompanied by its own conductor. Consequently, the host conductor, Italy's Gianni Ferrio, took care of the orchestra.

The song was performed fourth on the night following Spain and preceding Germany. At the close of voting, it finished in 6th place with 11 points.

Lyrics

My poor heart feels like breaking
'Cause I'll never see you again
Still, nobody knows I am crying
'Cause I'm walking the streets in the rain

My tears are mixed through the raindrops
And I feel like I can't stand the pain
Still, nobody knows I am crying
'Cause I'm walking the streets in the rain

I'm retracing your steps one by one
We walk down the street for so long
I can still see your face through my teardrops
Cause the rain whispers softly, she's gone

The tears of the rain will keep falling
Till you bring back the sunshine again
Still, nobody knows I am crying
'Cause I'm walking the streets in the rain

Still, nobody knows I am crying
'Cause I'm walking the streets in the rain
