Poland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, after becoming a member of the EBU a year earlier. The country had an impressive second-place finish in its debut, the highest for a debutante nation in the contest until 2007 and it remains their best entry to date.
Since joining the contest, Poland has missed only 4 contests: 2000 and 2002 due to relegation, 2012 (citing the staging of the 2012 UEFA Euro Cup tournament as a major decider not to go to Baku) and 2013. With the introduction of the semi-finals, the country has only qualified for the final 6 times and has reached the top 10 in the final only once.
Earlier editions of the contest had been broadcasted by TVP in the past, prior to them joining the EBU.
