Niamh Kavanagh is an Irish singer. Her musical influences include Bonnie Raitt, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald. She contributed to several songs for the soundtrack of the hit film The Commitments. Before Eurovision, she worked as a clerk for the Allied Irish Bank.
Niamh is best known for representing her country at Eurovision on two occasions. The first was at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet performing the song In Your Eyes. She won with 187 points in an exciting final vote sequence. The song topped the Irish charts after her victory and outsold all other singles in Ireland that year.
She participated a second time at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo with the song It's for You. She qualified from the second semi-final in ninth place and finished 23rd in the final. Despite that, it was the start of a run of consecutive qualifications for Ireland from 2010 until 2013.
In 2017, Niamh won the second edition of Celebrity MasterChef Ireland.
She was one of the five jurors for Ireland in the 2018 contest in Lisbon. In honor of the 30th anniversary of her win, she was the Irish spokesperson for the 2023 contest in Liverpool.
