Montenegro joined the Eurovision family as an independent country along with Serbia in 2007. They participated as part of SFR Yugoslavia until 1992, where Serbia and Montenegro were expelled from the Eurovision Song Contest for twelve years by the EBU, so debuting in 2004 instead.
Montenegro, along with San Marino, qualified for the final for the first time in 2014.
