Maria Guinot was a Portuguese singer and musician. She released her first EPs in the late 1960s before taking a break from music until 1981.
She is best known for representing Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 in Luxembourg with the song Silêncio e tanta gente where she accompanied herself on the piano. The song finished in 11th place overall.
Guinot continued performing and composing, often collaborating with other artists and released three albums. She passed away on 3 November 2018 at the age of 73.
