Ireland, winning-wise, is the most successful country in the Eurovision to date. Ireland holds a record of seven wins since 1970 including two wins for Johnny Logan, but however the United Kingdom have accumulated more points overall.
Ireland have only missed two contests, 1983 in Munich (due to financial problems at RTÉ) and 2002 in Tallinn (due to relegation). All entries have been performed in English with the exception of 1972, which was performed in Irish instead. They also used one of the smallest host cities for Eurovision, Millstreet, which hosted the 1993 contest in County Cork.
The country has never received Nul Points in competition despite being last twice and being relegated only once.
Since the introduction of the semi finals, the country has missed out on qualifying for the finals on seven occasions (2005, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017) and has finished last in the finals twice (2007 and 2013).
