Il Volo is an Italian operatic pop trio made up of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble. They initially started out as solo artists performing on the 2009 singing competition Ti lascio una canzone until the show's creator came up with the idea of putting them together as a group. Later that same year, they signed their first contract with an American music label.
The boys released their first album in 2010 and went on to huge international success, especially in Latin America. They have also performed with many of the music world's biggest stars including Barbra Streisand.
They won the 2015 San Remo Festival with the song Grande Amore, giving them the honor of representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 which they accepted, and performed their San Remo winner in Vienna. They had a direct entry into the final as Italy is a member of the Big Five.
