Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece with the song "Without Your Love". Armenia had to compete in the semi-finals, having not enough money to qualify for Big Five status, and being its debut entry, it couldn't qualify automatically for being in the Top 10 of 2005.

The country has only failed to qualify once, in 2011, where their political rivals Azerbaijan won the contest. They withdrew from 2012 for that reason. Armenia is one of the best scorers after 2006, scoring nearly 200 points in 2008, and having decent scores in later contests.

In 2017, Armenia will revert to using a national final format (Depi Evratesil) after their success with Iveta Mukuchyan, with the singer being part of the jury.[1]
