Alyosha is the stage name of Ukrainian singer Olena Kucher.
Born to a fishing family, Olena studied vocals at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and signed with the Catapult Music record label in 2008.
She replaced another singer who had been due to represent the country at the 2010 contest in Oslo. The original song she would've gone with, To be Free, was withdrawn because it was available online since 2008. Instead, Alyosha competed with Sweet People, an environmentally-themed song she co-wrote. She successfully qualified for the final and finished in 10th place.
Since then, Alyosha released four albums. One of her songs, Kalina, was a major hit in 2017 and was one of the top fifty most popular Ukrainian videos. She performed Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" with actress Rebecca Ferguson as an interval act during the first semifinal of the 2023 contest in Liverpool.
